Damn! you beat me with the morality post...you are the second person to do one today.I'm going to read it now.
I like your point that morality from God is sometimes weird & doesn't seem to make sense. When I was a Christian I liked to take those obscure edits from God that are in the scriptures & try to put them in some context where they'd have a meaning that made some sort of sense. One of the many fascinations of the Bible. Some of that weird shit can keep you occupied for a long time. ;)
& also the point you brought up about religious morality being "more" moral? then a human based one.
Of course a Christian answer to that is because of certain Christian theology AKA "the fall" Christians will always see: God/good man/bad. It doesn't matter if it's the same idea or if some of theirs doesn't even make sense.
